Assigned the role of keeper of her older sister, Calla, Bluebell Strong has spent her life cleaning up messes. Frustrated, unappreciated, and repressed, Blue drifts away from her family. Suddenly a jail sentence lands Calla in prison. She then becomes her nephew Bolton's guardian. Pulled headfirst back into the life of the Kings of Chaos MC, she struggles to find a balance between who she must be and who she's always wanted to be. Bolton's father, Shadow, the man she crushed on since she was a teen, returns from prison. These back-to-back events force her to choose between duty and happiness.
After serving three years in jail for a brother, Kings of Chaos enforcer Shadow is done denying himself. The silent man, known for making problems disappear, spent years holding on to a secret that kept him from the one thing he wants most Blue. Beneath the hardened exterior of this warrior rests a heart that beats for one woman. Laying all his cards on the table, he risks upsetting the balance among the Strongs and the club to complete the family he always wanted.

I really like this series. This one focuses on Blue and Shadow. I actually read the 4th book in the series first but liked it so much I went back and started reading the other books. I was particularly intrigued with Blue and Shadow in the 4th book so I'm really glad I got to read their story.I loved the characters in the book, loved the way Shadow was so into Blue and never hid behind some machismo BS to look like a tough guy, he LOVED him some Blue and he was willing to fight for her and their relationship. I I also liked this book bc the characters had more depth and the plot was a lot more intricate.
The only thing I didn't like was when Shadow referred to Blue as a "good girl" whenever she was submissive to him. She was so independent and strong it would seem that she wouldn't like to be referred to as a little girl, she is a grown-A woman. I do realize this is an MC book where the patriarchy and macho stuff is over the top but it still seemed out of character to me.
I can't wait to read Dixie's story, I am glad that the author is going to address the issue of race in the MC world. Good read!

A Lighter Shade of Blue (Audible Audio Edition) Shyla Colt Tess Irondale Books Reviews
Excellent well written book, and another writer to watch. This book is brimming with emotion. It mainly focuses on sisters, boyfriends and an ex husband in an MC club.. Most books has everything larger than life, but this author shows everyone as normal people with problems, betrayal, secrets, loyalty, and just trying to make it. Enjoy
Blue and Shadow fought kicked and clawed to be together. Shadow knew who and what he wanted but due to a messy sister it took a little longer for them to be one. Blue did a lot of growing up in this story and fought for her family. Totally enjoyed this story and was sad for it to end. Motorcycles, alpha males, hot sex, parties and loyalty winning!
3.5 Stars, Psychotic sister drama. Believable characters, entertaining dialogue and easy to follow storyline.
Motorcycle club and families. Multiple plots throughout this story keep it moving.
"I’m going to rock this moment, because I feel like a superhero walking into the sunset after winning a battle."
No desire to re-read this story. I may be interested in other works by this author.
The book is FANTASTIC. I have read it 4 or 5 times now and it gets better and better. This is about Bluebell Strong, a woman who never goes after what she wants. Always there to pick up the pieces. Bluebell finally opens her eyes and learns of her sister's betrayal, that being pretending to be her one night when they were younger and sleeping with Shadow, that she finally gives up on pleasing others and starts pleasing herself. As the story continues, Shadow and Bluebell's relationship goes from warm to extra steamy. I would love to read a book on how there life is after they got together. Loved the book. Too bad I could only give it 5 stars. Definitely would recommend.
I was not sure what to expect when I started reading this book but once I got into it, it held my attention. The characters were complex, complicated and loveable - well there were a couple who were just complex and complicated. Every woman (well this woman) wants a man who has loved them forever and finally takes the steps for them to be together.
Ms. Shyla breaks down the complicated family dynamic and true friendships. She even touches on a little racism.
If you did not read Book 1 that's ok because you don't need it to follow along. Shyla Colt always brings it - she is the one who introduced me to romances with MC's and I say thank you. Great book and can't wait for the next installment.
This is romance at it's finest. I read Shyla Colt's work because I love her characters and the freshness she brings to the genre. Her characters aren't one note...there's a depth there, even in her shorter works, that you can feel.
Blue is such an interesting woman who drops everything to care for her nephew when her sister decides to be stupid, yet again. Shadow is sexy and when he made his intentions for Blue known...*swoons*
I honestly despised Blue's sister and family, to be honest. It really grated on my nerves their treatment of her, but it also hit home because I understand how it feels to be 'that sister'.
Mrs. Colt really touches on so many issues with graceful ferocity (read the story and you'll understand-no spoilers here.)
Bluebell (love this name) is the caretaker for her family, and once again is asked to step up. Born and raised with the KOS MC, she’ll do what’s needed for her family. This time it’s for Bolton, her nephew, and her love for the boy won’t let her question her sacrifice.
Shadow, a KOS enforcer, is Bolton’s father and the man Blue has always wanted. Calla is Blue’s older sister, Bolton’s mother and Shadow’s ex, but most of all she’s and evil bitch.
This is a story of unrequited love, secrets, redemption and the struggle to find your own path in a world of angst, intrigue and violence.
This is the second book in this series, and I’m liking it a lot. Putting this author on my follow list for sure.
